Another Christmas Stitchery

I'm so cold today it feels like my bones are chilled. I've turned up the heat. I even have an extra pair of socks on my feet! brrrrrrrr..... Maybe some hot chocolate will hit the spot. I just finished this stitchery based on a Gal Pan design called RolyPoly. I love the Santa he's sooooo cute! I'm really getting hooked on stitchery and my back stitch is improving yah! What I really need is a needle keep just for my embroidery projects. I misplaced two needles while making this top. Hopefully, I won't find them the hard way (by getting an unexpected stick) : )

Y Seams

I pulled red fabrics .......OK hmmmm...... to practice inset seams....... My motivation for this learning experience ?......Trying to piece hexagons.....need I say more. I've always avoided inset seams but, there are so many wonderful patterns that require Y seams....that I decided it was time for me to be buckle down and learn the dreaded Dot to Dot sewing....LOL

My first 8 pointed star! Woo Hoo! I did it...I love it........this little 8 pointed star has given me such a feeling of accomplishment. Now, do you think I'm ready for a Lone Star quilt? LOL....(repeating to myself) baby steps......baby steps.

All done and ready to hang! Now what? Well, I could start on one (of many) UFOs......naaaaaaa lets not go there today....... Maybe fold some fabrics and tiddy up a bit........naaaaa it's not that bad after all I can still see the floor......... Oh wait even better why not make some crumb blocks!

Starting From Scraps

I wanted make some scrappy 9 patches so I grabbed myself a handful of light and dark 1.5 inch strips. I cut these strips 5.5 inches long (that gave me three 1.5 inch segments from each strip set) for a better variety and interest.

Next I chose two other fabrics from my stash to go with the little 9 patches. I love the green not to crazy about the orange but, I think it works so I"ll go with it.

Now, I had to decide what I would do with the other fabrics.....hmmmmm. Got it! I'll make some hour glass blocks to use for alternates. Next, I cut one 4 1/4 inch strip from the green and orange fabrics. After a little more sewing..........and more sewing. :)~

TADA! A sneak peek of what I have so far.. LOL I'm thinking about using this darker green for the border then adding a deep chocolate brown for the binding.

Catching Up

I'm back!! Did ya miss me? :) Thought I would post a photo of my latest attempts.......Two little wall hangings......The Random Ohio Stars is another finish! The pattern I"m sure everyone is familiar with is by Bonnie Hunter at Quiltville.com LOVE her site she has so many wonderful free patterns. If you've never been to her site it's a must see!! I also made another one of Bonnie's called Four-Patch Furrows. (blue one in the middle) It's waiting to be quilted. The Scrappy Stars in progress you see on my design wall........not sure what I'll do for the borders on that one yet. I"ve been tagged by Bumble Beans she wants me to list 6 random things about myself......I"ll play along! :) Hmmmmmmmm....thinking. OK here goes.

  1. I've been chiseling away at a 3 pound Hersey bar I received as a gift over the holidays.....Mmmm yummy!

  2. I have a Harley Davidson Sportster that I haven't ridden in over 5 years!

  3. I thought it would be fun to have eyelash extensions......LOL......you know......treat myself to something a little different.....Well, let me tell ya......it was different alright! They bugged me so much I had them removed the next day! LOL (never again lesson learned ).

  4. I sat on my glasses.....had them fixed but......they still seem to tilt to the right.....gonna have to take them back in for another adjustment. sigh......

  5. I always mix Dr Pepper with my morning coffee. Ok guys all together now EEEEEeeewww!!!!!!!

  6. My second toe is longer than my big toe!

I won't tag anyone but, if you would like to play along consider your self tagged! LOL

Happy Stitching. :)
